Activating and Deactivating Permanent Activation code via Command Line

Explains how to activate and deactivate a permanent activation code for Foxit PDF Editor via the command line.

Answer

This guide will walk you through the process of activating and deactivating a permanent activation code of Foxit PDF Editor using the command line.

How to Activate During Installation

When installing Foxit PDF Editor(Pro) via the command line, you can include the activation code as follows:

For an MSI installer package:

msiexec /i "The full path to the Foxit PDF Editor MSI installer" keycode="XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX"

For an EXE installer package:

<The full path to the Foxit PDF Editor EXE installer> /keycode="XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX"

How to Activate After Installation

If Foxit PDF Editor(Pro) is already installed, you can use the command line to activate the program.

  • Regular Activation Code:

Use the -cmdactive or -cmdquietactive parameter to activate.

Example:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\Activation.exe" -cmdactive XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

or

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\Activation.exe" -cmdquietactive XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

  • Activation Code Purchased from Foxit Reseller/Distributor (where the fifth character of the activation code is a 'K'):

Use the -cmdactive or -cmdquietactive and -activename parameters. Note that the position of -cmdactive/-cmdquietactive and -activename can be swapped in the command line.

Example:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\Activation.exe" -cmdactive XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX -activename Lisa_lee

or

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\Activation.exe" -cmdquietactive XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX -activename Lisa_lee

How to Deactivate Using Command Line

To deactivate the Foxit PDF Editor(Pro), use the -deactivate parameter.

Example:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\Activation.exe" -deactivate XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX

Note: currently, it's not feasible to uninstall and deactivate using the same command line, as these tasks are executed by two programs. If you need to uninstall and deactivate via the command line, please first deactivate using the above-mentioned command, then follow the instructions in this KB article to proceed with the uninstallation using the command line.
