Allow IT manager to configure which digital ID files are allowed to use

Explains how IT administrators can configure which digital ID files users are permitted to use for signing in Foxit PDF Editor.

Answer

Support for Foxit PDF Editor v11 and v12 has been discontinued as of August 13, 2025. Upgrade to v14 to continue receiving support.

 

For company-wide deployment, IT managers can also use the SignITMgr tool to configure which digital ID file users can sign PDF files across an organization. The steps are as follows:

1. Create or install the digital ID file on your computer.

2. For Foxit PDF Editor/Reader V11 or greater, please follow here to download an appropriate Foxit Customization Wizard application, open it, and select the "SignITMgr" option to get the "SignITMgr" tool opened within the Foxit Customization Wizard application.

3. You will find that the digital IDs you installed on your computer are listed in the SignITMgr window. Note that you may need to get the digital IDs for the users and install them on your computer 1st.

In the window, do the following:

i.Check the digital ID file allowed to sign a PDF file, and click on the Save button to save as a configured file. (in the old version of the SignITMgr tool, please click on Generate Configure File to save the configure file.

ii. If you want to change the setting which you have configured before, click Open (in the old version of SignITMgr tool, click on Load Configure File ) to open the configuration file. Then check the digital ID file that is allowed to sign a PDF file, and click Save button (in old version of SignITMgr tool,please click on Generate Configure File) to generate and save the modified configuration file.

4. After generating the configuration file, place it in:

For Foxit PDF Editor v2023 or greater:

"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Continuous\Foxit PDF Editor\Signature"

For Foxit PDF Editor V13 or greater:

"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Classic\Foxit PDF Editor\Signature"

For Foxit PDF Editor V11 or greater:

"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\Signature"

For Foxit PDF Reader V11 or greater:

"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Reader\Signature"

For Foxit PhantomPDF V9.2 to V10:

"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Foxit PhantomPDF\Signature"

For Foxit Reader V9.2 to V10：

"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\Signature"

When IT manager has configured it completely, users can only use the specified digital ID(s) to sign PDF files, and will not be allowed to create a new ID.

Note:This feature is only available in Foxit PhantomPDF/Reader version 9.2 to V10 ,Foxit PDF Editor/Reader V11 and greater versions, And the” signature” folder is automatically created the first time users sign a PDF file with a digital ID. If it is not found in the specified folder, please create it manually.
