Connecting External Data Sources to AI Workspace

AI Workspace connects to external tools through MCP connectors — including Atlassian, Asana, Notion, HubSpot, and Fireflies at launch — so content from those services can join your project sources. This guide covers when to use connectors and how connections are authorized.

Answer

Prerequisites What Connectors Are

Connectors let AI Workspace pull content from the external tools where your work already lives, so those materials can join your uploaded files as project sources. Connectors are built on MCP (Model Context Protocol), the same connector framework used across the 2026.2 AI platform, and they extend what the Workspace agent can reach when it analyzes and creates on your behalf.

The connectors available at launch (September 1, 2026) include:

Connector Typical content it brings into a project
Atlassian Work items and documentation from Jira and Confluence.
Asana Tasks and project information.
Notion Pages and databases from your Notion workspace.
HubSpot CRM records and related business content.
Fireflies Meeting notes and transcripts.

Additional connectors may appear in the product beyond this launch list; the in-product connector gallery is the authoritative source for what is currently available to your account.

Connector, Upload, or Web Link?

Choosing the right input path

Use a connector

The content lives in a supported external service, changes over time, or is spread across many items you do not want to export by hand.

Use a file upload

The content is a finished document you already have — a contract, a report, a spreadsheet. Uploads are also the right path for anything from a service that has no connector.

Use a web link

The content is a public web page or article. No account authorization is involved.

Connecting a Service

Connections are made from within AI Workspace alongside the other source options, and each connection requires you to authorize Foxit's access using your own account with that service — the connector can only reach content your account can reach.

1
Open the source options in your project.

Connectors sit alongside local files, Foxit cloud files, web links, and pasted text as a way to bring material in.

2
Choose the service and authorize it.

You are asked to sign in to the external service and approve the connection. Complete the approval in the service's own sign-in flow.

3
Select the content to use as sources.

Once connected, choose the items you want available to the project, then select them as context the same way you select uploaded files.

⚠ Warning: If your organization uses SSO or restricts third-party app authorizations, the approval step may require administrator consent in the external service before the connection succeeds. Coordinate with the administrator of that service, not with Foxit support, for authorization policy questions.Reviewer note (remove before publish): The generalized flow above is pending verification against the shipped UI. Per-connector walkthroughs with screenshots (Atlassian, Asana, Notion, HubSpot, Fireflies) and confirmation of the final launch connector list are open items with PM (Sophy Huang) — carried over from the pre-launch question on connector scope, updated for the lineup named in the September 1 release announcement.Troubleshooting Connections

Authorization fails or loops

Complete the sign-in in the external service directly first, then retry the connection. If your organization gates third-party apps, request administrator approval for the Foxit connection in that service's admin settings.

Connected, but expected content is missing

The connector sees only what your account in that service can see. Confirm your permissions on the specific items in the external service, then re-select sources in the project.

Connector not listed

The in-product gallery reflects what is available to your account. If a service you need is absent, it may not be supported yet — export the content and upload it as files in the meantime.
