Fix Microsoft Account Activation Warning in Foxit

Addresses the already been registered in the system warning that appears when activating Foxit through the Microsoft Store activation button.

Answer

Issue Description:

This is due to our recent changes that turn off auto-binding the Microsoft account with the Foxit account for security reasons.
Before, when you had a user newly invited to use Foxit, the user could log in via the Microsoft button. The Microsoft account can be automatically bound with the freshly created Foxit account.
But after this security fix, the Microsoft account won't be auto-bound together with the Foxit account. Instead, it will prompt the user with this warning.

Solution:

  • We 'd better to ask the customer's IT to set up the SSO correctly. And then, let the users use the "SSO Login" method instead of the Microsoft button.
  • If they don't want to. Below, I wrote a step-by-step guide that the IT team can follow to do the same with other users who experience the same issue.
  1. Admin goes to the Foxit Admin Console (https://adminconsole.foxit.com/) and adds the user to the SSO exclusion list. See the screenshot below the highlighted.

    2. Let the user go to foxit.com and reset their password by clicking the "Forgot Password". User can then follow the guide to create their password;
    3. After successfully setting up the password. Let the user go to "account.foxit.com". Log in with the email and password. Then, under the account binding, click the Microsoft button to bind the Microsoft account to their Foxit account.
    See below:

    4. Admin goes back to Foxit Admin Console, remove the user from the SSO exclusion list;
    5. Let the user open the local Foxit Editor again and log in via the Microsoft button to activate the Foxit.
    6. (Optional) If step No.5 fails, go clean the Foxit cache and try again. Below is where the Foxit cache is at:
    For Windows, the cache is at: "%appdata%\Foxit Software"
    For Mac, the cache is at: "~/Library/Application\ Support/Foxit\ Software/"
