Getting Started with Foxit AI Workspace
Create your first AI Workspace project in Foxit PDF Editor v2026.2: add documents and web sources, ask cross-document questions in AI Chat, and generate your first outputs.
Answer
AI Workspace is available beginning with Foxit PDF Editor version 2026.2. Confirm the following before your first session:
- Foxit PDF Editor v2026.2 or later installed on Windows or Mac. Check your version under Help > About Foxit PDF Editor.
- An active Foxit AI subscription on the account you sign in with. AI Workspace is included with the Foxit AI subscription and is not sold separately.
- An internet connection. AI Workspace processes documents and generates content through cloud AI services.
- Source material to work with — a few PDFs, Office documents, or web links related to one topic or project.
Is AI Workspace the right tool for this task?
Yes — analysis and creation across documents
You want to gather several documents and sources in one place, ask questions across all of them, and generate new content such as summaries, slides, diagrams, or reports.
No — editing a PDF itself
AI Workspace does not edit PDF files or run batch PDF operations. To change text, pages, or annotations in a PDF, use the standard editing tools in Foxit PDF Editor.
Time estimate: About 15 minutes to create your first project, add sources, and generate your first output.Quick Help While Getting StartedI do not see AI Workspace in my PDF Editor
The AI Workspace entry appears only when both requirements are met: PDF Editor is version 2026.2 or later, and you are signed in with an account that has an active Foxit AI subscription. Verify your version under Help > About, then confirm you are signed in to the correct Foxit account. See AI Workspace Licensing, Access, and Availability for entitlement details.
My file will not upload
Each project accepts up to 100 files, and each file can be up to 100 MB and 2,000 pages. Files outside those limits, or in unsupported formats, are rejected. See Supported Files, Formats, and Usage Limits for the full list.
What Is AI Workspace?AI Workspace is the project-based creation space of Foxit AI Assistant 2.0, opened from an entry point inside Foxit PDF Editor. Instead of switching between a PDF reader, a note tool, and a separate AI assistant, you complete the full workflow of collect, organize, analyze, and create in one interface.
Inside a project you can:
- Collect documents, images, and web links as project sources, alongside content from connected external services.
- Analyze across every source at once. The AI Chat understands your selected files as context and can combine them with live web search.
- Create new outputs — called crafts — including Markdown documents, webpages, slides, images, diagrams, and mind maps, plus Skill-based outputs such as summaries, quizzes, flashcards, reports, document comparisons, and knowledge graphs.
Launch Foxit PDF Editor v2026.2 and select the AI Workspace entry. The Workspace opens as its own experience with your project Home page.
The left navigation contains Home, Active, Archived, and Search, plus your Favorites and Recent projects. The main area lists your projects; use the view toggles to switch between grid and list layouts. Each project card shows its materials count (uploaded sources) and crafts count (AI-generated outputs).
Use a name you will recognize later, such as the client, matter, or initiative the documents belong to. You can rename a project at any time from its context menu, and favorite it with the star so it stays pinned in your navigation.
The left panel manages your data sources and generated content, the center panel previews and edits whatever you open, and the right panel is the AI Chat. Left and right panels collapse when you want more room in the center.
From the left panel, add material as a local file, from Foxit cloud files, as a web link, or as pasted text. Supported file types include PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Markdown, plain text, and images.
AI Workspace is context-aware: when you select a file on the left or open content in the center, the AI Chat automatically loads it as context. Selecting the right sources first is the single biggest factor in answer quality.
Start with a cross-document question, for example: "Compare the payment terms across these three contracts and flag any differences." The AI can also combine your documents with live web search when a question needs current information.
Ask for a concrete output — a summary, a mind map of key themes, or a slide outline. Generated crafts are saved to the project and listed in the left panel under your generated content.
Text-based outputs such as Markdown, webpages, and diagrams are editable, so you can refine the AI's draft directly or ask the chat for revisions. Individual crafts can be shared with others through a shareable link.
Projects keep your sources, crafts, and conversation context between sessions. Reopen a project from Recent or Favorites and continue where you left off.
