Situation:
The user has a lengthy PDF document and would like to obtain a brief summary that includes the important information.
Solution:
Foxit PDF Editor (Pro) and Foxit PDF Reader have integrated with ChatGPT to utilize AI-Generated Content (AIGC) for enhancing user productivity. The "Summarize the document" and "Summarize the text" features, provided in the Foxit AI Assistant, can be used to summarize an entire PDF document or selected PDF content, respectively.
Procedure:
To Summarize a Document:
1:Click Home > AI Assistant or click the AI Assistant floating bubble icon in the lower right corner of the application window to open the AI Assistant panel on the left side of the Foxit PDF Editor/Reader.
2: Click on "More Tools"> "Summarize the document” to begin summarizing the PDF content in the currently opened file. A loading status will be displayed during the analysis. Once completed, the summarized content will appear in the Preview box under the "Summarize the document" tab in the AI assistant panel.
Note: An account can summarize up to 100 pages per month. Once this quota is met, you'll have to wait until the following month for a new quota.
To Summarize Text:
1:Click Home > AI Assistant or click the AI Assistant floating bubble icon in the lower right corner of the application window to open the AI Assistant panel on the left side of the Foxit PDF Editor/Reader.
2:Click on "More Tools"> "Summarize the text” to open the corresponding "Summarize the text” tab in the AI Assistant panel.
3:Enter the content you want to summarize in the blank field under the "Summarize the text" tab, then click 'start'. The summarized content will be displayed in the Preview field.
4:Alternatively, use Home > Select > Select Text and Image tool to select the text in the PDF file that you want to summarize. A mini-toolbar will appear above the selected text. Click the 'Summarize the text' icon in the mini-toolbar, and the selected text will appear in the blank field under AI Assistant > Summarize the text. Click 'start' to summarize the selected content, which will be displayed in the Preview field.
Note: If the selected or input text exceeds 2000 characters, the excess will not be processed during text summarization.
Additional Information:
The ChatGPT-related features are only available in Foxit PDF Reader V2023.2 and later versions, and in subscription releases from Foxit PDF Editor V2023.2 onwards. These features are not included in perpetual license versions, such as Foxit PDF Editor V12, V13. Additionally, these features are not globally available, so users in certain regions may not have access to them.
