How Do Sources and Artifacts Work in Foxit Workspace?

Every project in Foxit Workspace holds two kinds of files, shown in separate tabs on the left: Sources, the files you bring in, and Artifacts, the outputs the AI Assistant generates from them. Keeping the two separate makes it easy to tell what you provided from what Workspace produced.

Sources are the documents, images, and links you add to a project so the AI Assistant can analyze them. Foxit Workspace indexes everything in Sources automatically, so the assistant can search, compare, and cite across all of them at once.

1. Click + Add Files at the top of the Sources tab, or drag and drop files directly into the list. You can select multiple files for a batch import.
2. After a file uploads, Foxit Workspace automatically extracts its text and builds a search index. Scanned documents and images go through OCR automatically as part of this step.

1. Right-click a file in the Sources tab to rename, move, or delete it.
2. Deleting a Source requires confirmation and can't be undone -- once deleted, the AI Assistant can no longer reference that file's content in this project.

Artifacts are the outputs the AI Assistant generates while you work in a project. From the chat panel, you can ask it to create a Document, Presentation, Image, Mind Map, Diagram, or Webpage -- each one is saved into the Artifacts tab and stays linked back to the Sources it was generated from, so you can trace an output to where it came from.

You can work with an Artifact much like any other file in the project: rename it, move it, download it, or share it by generating a link so people outside the project can view it.

Yes. Artifacts can be converted to other formats from their toolbar -- for example, exporting a generated Document to PDF or Word. Converting creates a new file in Artifacts; your original is left untouched.

Yes. Like the AI Assistant, Foxit Workspace shows a reminder wherever it generates content: AI-generated responses are for reference only and should be reviewed before you rely on them.
